Cheryl serves as the pastor of Leeds Church and Union Community Church, both part of the Global Methodist Church.
Her faith journey began at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Elkton, MD, where she was nurtured by a loving and Spirit-filled congregation. Through their guidance, she deepened her relationship with Jesus Christ and embraced a life of service. Over the years, Cheryl dedicated herself to God’s work in various roles, including Lay Leader, Sunday School Director and Teacher, Worship Leader, Vacation Bible School Director, and Church Secretary.
Before entering ministry, Cheryl had a rich career in healthcare, working as a CNA/CMA at Divine Haven Nursing Home in Elkton, MD, and as a phlebotomist at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE, and Jennersville Hospital in PA.
At the age of 45, Cheryl answered God’s call to ministry under the mentorship of the late Reverend David Rash. She began her journey toward becoming a Licensed Local Pastor in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2003. She completed Local Pastor's Licensing School in 2006 and graduated from Wesley Theological Seminiary's Course of Study Program in 2013. Cheryl began serving as pastor in July 2006 at Union United Methodist Church in Elkton. In 2016, she was also appointed to Leeds United Methodist Church.
Cheryl has played an active role in supporting her fellow clergy, serving as the secretary and co-organizer for The Fellowship of Associate Members and Licensed Local Pastors in both the Peninsula-Delaware and Eastern Pennsylvania Conferences.
Following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Cheryl joined the Global Methodist Church in 2023 and was accepted to be an ordained Elder. On April 13, 2024, she was officially ordained as an Elder in full connection with the Global Methodist Church. Today, she continues to faithfully serve Leeds Church and Union Community Church.
Cheryl and her husband, Eugene, live on their family farm in Fair Hill, MD. They have two grown sons and four grandchildren who bring great joy to their lives. In her free time, Cheryl enjoys reading, sewing, and watching classic TV shows and murder mysteries. Above all, she loves the Lord and finds peace in serving Him and others.
Cheryl feels a special connection to Moses’ story in Exodus 3:1-11, as she, too, once felt hesitant to answer God’s call. But like Moses, she found strength through God’s promises and guidance.
Her life verses include:
• Isaiah 41:10 (NIV): “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
• Philippians 4:12-13 (NIV): “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation… I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
• 1 Timothy 6:12 (NIV): “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
• Romans 10:9 (NIV): “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
• Hebrews 11:1 (NIV): “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Cheryl’s faith, family, and calling continue to shape her ministry and her life.
